Firefox Improved Pop-up Blocking
26.07.2007. 05:53
Firefoxs built-in pop-up blocker has been enhanced to block unwanted pop-up and pop-under ads. Firefox intuitive interface blocks spyware, and popup ads. It helps deliver web pages faster by filtering unwanted content.
Pop-up blocking can become a nuisance if you use an obsolete product. With Mozilla Firefox, you will always have the updates you need to stop "hacker sites" from flooding you with pop-ups. Try the Mozilla Firefox download. It is free and easy to install.

Can you believe that some companies need pop-ups? It is almost like commercials on television, unwanted and right when the content was getting good. This type of behavior is expressed by Michael Gartenberg who stated:
Now that is an idea, avoid all type of unwanted annoyances that disrupt the content. I personally have no problem with ads and their usage, but pop-ads really had me disappointed for a while. With browser that "stop pop-ups at their tracks" like Mozilla Firefox and others, I must admit they must be skipping a trend that television has not been able to.
"The pop-up blocker is awesome," said James Russell, a Web editor who has been a Mozilla convert since the late 1990s. "Whats cool is that legitimate pop-up windows, that is, those that are actually necessary for a site, seem to work just fine; somehow Mozilla knows which ones to block." This technique of basically "only on request" is perhaps the best power that Mozilla Firefox employs. It is able to basically stop javascript code to execute pop-ups and has the ability to supress windows that have not been clicked on by the end user. I find this to be extremely powerful and useful.
You will know a pop-up has been blocked when a bar appears at the top of the browser to alert you. This bar is easily configurable to allow sites or keep on blocking. Most of the time, the popups that will be blocked will either be advertisement, surveys, or redirects.

If you would like to allow pop-ups for a specific site, or for the current site, click the bar and the following menu appears. This menu allows you to permit a site to pop-up a window. Howver, in my case, I have found that Mozilla Firefox stops most if not all annoying popups from sites.

From this menu, you can allow popups for the specific site that you are visiting, choose to not display the pop-up notification bar, or edit Firefoxs Popup Blocker options. To do so, click Edit Popup Blocker Options. The following window will appear.
